Christmas Tree Recycle

City of Chicago Urges Residents to “Turn Green into Blue”
Recycle Your Tree or a Bag of Recyclables Saturday, January 6, 2007 and
Receive a Year’s Supply of Blue Bags

With the holiday season upon us, many residents are thinking of ways they can give back to their community. As in years past, the City of Chicago is once again encouraging residents to improve the environment and the health and safety of their community by taking part in its annual “Turn Green into Blue” Christmas tree recycling event.

On behalf of the City, we invite you, your friends, family and fellow residents to recycle your evergreen tree or a bag of recyclables at the “Turn Green into Blue” recycling event on Saturday, January 6, 2007 between 9:00am and 2:00pm at 23 Chicago locations.

In exchange for participating, residents will be given a year’s supply of blue bags, while supplies last, and a bag of fresh mulch.

During the event, trees brought to parks for recycling are placed into a chipper and turned into reusable mulch. To avoid damaging the chipping machine, please remove all lights, ornaments, tinsel, wiring and other materials from the tree before recycling. If a resident doesn’t have a tree, he or she can still participate by bringing in a large bag of clean recyclables, such as used metal cans, glass and plastic bottles and containers or paper or other shrubbery.

Residents are able to bring their tree or recyclables to any of the following locations on Saturday, January 6th from 9:00am to 2:00pm:
