February 2007 Update

MONTHLY MEETING CANCELLED

The meeting in February was cancelled because the meeting location lost power.
The power outage was from 31st-35th north and south; and Michigan, Indiana, Prairie, and west side of Giles. ComEd, the city, and the Alderman were notified by the organization, and its members.

This is the second power outage in less than one month. We are working to get ComEd out.

UPDATE ON 35TH STREET & DUNBAR PARK

The Mayor have been in the community talking about our issues on 35th Street, Dunbar School and the Park. Things are looking up.

We are working to schedule a walking tour with the Mayor concerning 35th Street and the business area.


Police Department Update with Community

The business community has been meeting for the last three months with joint meetings between 2nd and 21st Police Districts. The business people would like to see 35th Street upgrade also.

The 21st District has police presence on the north side of 35th. The 2nd District continue to miss the mark, but is still working on it's commitment to patrol south side of 35th.

We are focusing on 35th Street and Indiana where McDonald's has a community commitment to a healthy neigborhood. McDoanld's was the main focus at CAPS meeting on February 21, 2007. We are concerned about the activities on the McDoanld's property. The McDoanld's has not sent a representative to Police Business Meeting or monthly CAPS meeeting on Beat 2112.


The CAPS program will have its second combined meeting with Beat 211 and 2112 in Thursday, March 15, 2007 at De LaSalle High School. The meeting time is from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
The last meeting was at Police Headquarters.

DAN RYAN EXPRESSWAY

Dan Ryan mainline construction will starting in the early part of March. This time local lanes will be greatly impacted.

The bridge at 33rd over the Dan Ryan is out, and will be replaced before the opening game of the Chicago WHITE SOX.

SPRING CLEAN AND GREEN

We will be planning for the spring clean and green. We need you to come. Your commitment and action in the project make a huge difference.
